Mother Mary Bryant Tucker
Mother Mary B. Tucker was born in Lithonia, Georgia. She attended DeKalb County Public School and graduated as Valedictorian of her class. In a pursuit of higher education, Mother Tucker attended Clark College (Clark Atlanta University) in Atlanta majoring in Business Administration. Before retiring, Mother Tucker worked as an Auditor and Accounting Specialist with several Banks and major Department Stores.
Mother Mary Tucker was elevated to the office of Supervisor of Women for the Island of Bermuda Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction under the leadership of Bishop Richard S. “Mr. Clean” White in May 2003. She was dually appointed in 2012 as the Supervisor of Women for the North Central Georgia Jurisdiction under the leadership of Bishop Joseph E. Hogan Sr. In 2017, Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis selected her as Area Representative of Region #9 (32 Supervisors, 19 in the Southeast and 13 in Foreign countries). In 2018, Mother Tucker was elevated to Vice President of the Executive Board of the International Department of Women.
Mother Mary B. was born in Lithonia, Georgia and was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost on Mother’s Day, 1969. She has served in many and various capacities; including President of the Missionary Board, President of the Y.W.C.C., member of the Executive Board, Pastoral Administrative Assistant, Teacher of Sunday School, and Youth Leader just to name a few. She gives a new meaning to the phrase: “…whatever my hands find to do!” Mother Tucker served as Assistant District Missionary for seven years until she was appointed as District Missionary of the Atlanta District in 1981. Faithfully serving in this role, she was appointed to the East Point District in 1986; and subsequently to the New Life Fellowship District in 1998. Mother Tucker also served as the former Vice President of the Good News Jail Ministry for the Atlanta City Detention Center. Mother was blessed to have worked closely with the late Supervisors, Mother Julia Underwood, Mother Gwendolyn Howard, and Mother Edith L. McGrew of South Central Georgia.
Today, Mother Mary B. Tucker is an active member of New Life Tabernacle, Church of God In Christ in Atlanta, Georgia. She currently serves as an Administrative Assistant to her pastor and is President of the Pastor’s Aid Committee. In addition to all of the above mentioned capacities served by Mother Tucker, she serves as a Founders Day Committee Member and she is on the Board of Directors for the C.H. Mason Seminary at ITC.
Mother Tucker has received numerous awards and recognitions. In 2010, she received The Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Service Award in Washington, D.C. for Courage and Excellence in Service to Mankind. She also received a service award from C.H. Mason Theological Seminary @ ITC and The Mother Lydia E. Hinsley Outstanding Community Service Award to name a few. She is the proud Mother of six children (one of whom is the well-known Actor/Comedian Chris Tucker), grandmother of 16, and great grandmother of five. Mother Tucker is a vessel used of God to further His Kingdom. She loves serving because she realizes that only what you do for Christ will last.
